ThePublicOffice offers a unique experience. It combines specially commissioned content, a tailored environment and an expertly facilitated process, all focused on one of government’s hot issues.
Successive government statements about public service reform have made clear the intention to make users the focus of service design (including the Transformational Government Strategy, Sir David Varney's Review of Service Delivery, and the 2007 Comprehensive Spending Review):
"Service transformation is about changing public services so they are tailored more to the needs of people and businesses and less to the structures of government ... Government will do this by engaging users of public services to learn what really matters to them, and by acting on what is learnt. The Government’s vision is to establish across the public sector a culture and supporting systems which make this routine.
" (All from Service Transformation Agreement, Nov 2007.)
ThePublicOffice experience is suitable for all those working in local and central government, and for those organisations working with government to deliver public services. ThePublicOffice is a powerful emotional experience designed to evoke empathy with service users. It has the potential to change thought processes, attitudes and behaviours, and bring disparate parties together around a shared agenda for change. ThePublicOffice is not about teaching or listing facts, but rather providing an environment in which participants realise what transformation is required and to identify the role they have to play in it.
ThePublicOffice can be constructed as a specially designed facility as part of large scale conferences or exhibitions, or within communal spaces in workplaces. It is ideally suited to public spaces where it can be used for ‘closed’ facilitated workshops with invited guests (up to 25 per workshop) and as an open space for larger numbers to walk through unfacilitated.
Alternatively, we can deliver 2-hour workshop sessions using ThePublicOffice materials as part of training or other events.
