Inspired to a significant extent by the National Consumer Council’s work on public services in recent years, ThePublicOffice is a project devised, led and owned by the public-sector IT research firm Kable as part of its "Ideal Government" strand of work.
ThePublicOffice currently has three foundation partners: businesses who want to work with government to deliver public services more explicitly designed around the real needs of the ultimate end-users. These three partners comprise the well-known leading brands EDS and Accenture and the new Innovative Communications Alliance formed by Microsoft and Nortel.
The brand and the installation itself were created by the Like People Do team at Central St Martins College of Art & Design. ThePublicOffice's original partners were Cable & Wireless, EDS and the ICA.
